Zoe Saldana reveals that nice hands and a brain are all she needs in a man
Zoe Saldana has confessed to what she looks for in a man - nice hands, a brain and the willingness to shed a few tears.
‘I love men’s hands’, said the Avatar actress, ‘not just nice, manicured hands. I feel as though hands say a lot about you and your history. There’s something very abrasively fragile about a man’s hands.’
But a lovely pair of mits on its own is not enough.
‘The only thing I can’t tolerate in a human being, especially in a man, is ignorance,’ said Saldana, 32, who played Neytiri in James Cameron’s hit film.
‘Somebody who talks in labels, or talks just to hear themselves speak. To me, judgment day is when you open your mouth and say something that lets me know what kind of personality you have. I mean, I’m not saying I love a man who cries, but I think that can be very sexy,’ she told GQ magazine.
On playing Neytiri, she said: ‘I didn’t know what the hell I was doing. I just instinctively played her like an animal.’

Orlando Bloom to Testify Against Burglar Bunch

TMZ has confirmed Orlando Bloom will be called as a witness in the Burglar Bunch trial and he'll testify about the heist at his house.
Alexis Neiers is charged with one count of felony burglary for allegedly stealing two beaucoup expensive watches from Bloom's house -- which, along with some other items, were worth an estimated $500,000.
Interesting sources tell us Neiers turned down two plea deals from the L.A. County D.A. -- one for 1 year in county jail, and another for 6 months in jail. She's now rolling the dice and the stakes are 6 years in state prison.
Neiers' trial starts Monday.

Scarlett Johansson Covers V Magazine

Scarlett Johansson pulls at her strawberry-print Yves Saint Laurent top with her teeth on the cover of V Magazine’s “Summer Scorcher” issue, on stands May 11.
The 25-year-old actress plays Black Widow in the upcoming Iron Man 2, in theaters TODAY.
“This is a no-bulls–t character,” explains Scarlett. “It’s not that she’s non-feeling, she just gets the job done. She’s part of something bigger, and she knows it. She’s this crazy badass, and she has no time for f–king around.”
She adds, “I’m 25, and for some time I’ve played these characters who are kind of figuring it out, transforming from young girls to young women… I don’t feel like a girl anymore And I feel like my life and career are on a different path than they had been. There’s a lot of road behind me. I feel at this point I really want to do work that is challenging to me. Not to say that I don’t look at my job and realize that I’m ridiculously fortunate, and purely an actor for hire. You never forget that it’s all so vulnerable.”

Sam Worthington Tackles Paparazzi
Aussie actor Sam Worthington seemed surprised that so many photogs were outside Trousdale waiting for him last night—but the Avatar star decided to have some fun when he turned the tables on one cameraman.
"Come here, you f--ker!" he said as he playfully grabbed the guy and his camera before shooting the shutterbugs surrounding him.
And his night didn't end there...
Sam and his buddy headed across the street for more partying at Soho House.
"I plead the fifth!" he told photographers peppering him with questions.
Nice to see he's not taking this all too seriously, but that could also be the buzz the actor seemed to be enjoying. We just hope he had his avatar drive him home at the end of the night.

Scarlett Johansson Urges Congress to Pass Healthy School Meals Act

WASHINGTON—Kids adore her in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie. Parents love her in movies like The Other Boleyn Girl and Lost in Translation. And now, kids and parents alike are applauding actress and singer Scarlett Johansson’s recent request to Congress to add more fruits, vegetables, and healthy meal options to school lunchrooms.
Johansson has written a letter to Congress urging support for the Healthy School Meals Act of 2010, H.R. 4870, which was introduced on March 18 by Rep. Jared Polis of Colorado. The bill would reward school districts for offering plant-based vegetarian options and healthful nondairy beverages.
“I’ve been involved with efforts to feed hungry children for years,” Johansson writes. “Millions of families in America rely on subsidized school lunches, and these meals are absolutely crucial to children’s well-being.”
The letter—covered by U.S. News & World Report and Politico—is part of PCRM’s campaign to ask Congress to provide students low-fat plant-based meals through the reauthorization of the federal Child Nutrition Act, which helps shape the school breakfasts and lunches served to 30 million children.
The Healthy School Meals Act would reward school districts with additional food aid if they offer most students plant-based vegetarian food choices every day. The bill, which has already drawn support from Rep. John Conyers and 30 other co-sponsors, would create a pilot program to provide select schools with high-fiber, low-fat vegetarian protein products and nondairy milk options.
Vegetarian school lunch options are also supported by the American Medical Association, the American Public Health Association, and celebrity parents such as Tobey Maguire and basketball star John Salley.
For more information or an interview with a PCRM dietitian or physician, contact Vaishali Honawar at 202-527-7339 or vhonawar@pcrm.org.

Zoe Saldana / April NYLON

On moving from New York City to the Dominican Republic at age 9:
“We went from this urban life to running around barefoot in the countryside and being taught how to gut fish. We were learning how to climb coconut trees – let me tell you, they are fucking dangerous!... I would do my homework in guava and mango trees.”
On learning dance as a child:
“That was the beginning of a beautiful fucking romance. That was my Xanax, let me tell you… it put all my demons in order.”
On Hollywood casting:
“When they say ‘We want to go white,’ they have a very smooth way of saying it, and the recent one is the word traditional. [I’ve heard] ‘Oh, you know, you’re just not what we were looking for, your skin is a little darker.’ Compared to what?! My skin is just my skin. It’s dark if you compare it to someone who’s lighter.”
On meeting James Cameron:
“I’m thinking he probably imagined some Amazonian girl [for Neytiri] – I had really long hair at the time – wearing really little shit with like, a bow and arrow. I had no idea she was blue and nine feet tall. But for some reason, he was like, ‘You look so much like her!’”

'Cap Am' update: Channing Tatum and Keira Knightley approached

Add Channing Tatum to the list of names of actors being considered for the role of Captain America.
Tatum now joins Wilson Blethel and Mike Vogel, who have screen-tested, plus Chris Evans, who has read for the part. Marvel is also still keen on Garrett Hedlund.
At this stage, Tatum, who just wrapped filming on the Steven Soderbergh action flick “Knockout,” has only been approached for the role and has not seen a script. The actor played Duke in “G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra,” but despite that movie doing modestly at the box-office, fanboy reaction was muted and its viability as a franchise is set on neutral.
Tatum certainly has the heft for Captain America, but can he play the 98-pound weakling alter ego Steve Rogers was before taking the super-serum which turns him into a perfect human specimen? This could be Tatum’s chance to pull a “Machinist” -- Christian Bale lost 60 pounds for the role which, while attracting some heat from health groups, received acclaim for his performance in that movie.
Casting for other roles in the Captain America movie is just as hot.
Hugo Weaving’s deal is still being worked on, though not much movement has occurred since last week.
And the search is on for the female lead. Details for the part are being kept secret for now but it is rumored to be his flame Betsy Ross (ironically, named after the woman who is credited with creating the American flag). Keira Knightley was approached last week but the studio is also looking at other actresses.

Christian Bale hasn't spoken to his family for 18 months.

The actor's mother Jenny is mystified as to why he has ignored all attempts she has made to make contact since he was arrested on suspicion of assault following a row they had on the evening of the London premiere of his movie 'The Dark Knight' in July 2008.
She said: "He's not talking to us, it's not the other way round. He has changed his phone numbers, and he ignores the letters, emails and birthday cards I send.
"As awful as that night was, and although I rack my mind every day about what couldhave made him behave like that, I'd happily forget it happened if we could go back to being a family. That's the most important thing.
"We miss Christian terribly. But it's been more than 18 months now and it's hard to see how this will ever end."
According to Jenny and her daughter Sharon, they are still unsure why Christian - who has a four-year-old daughter Emmeline with wife Sibi Blazic - "exploded with anger" and had them thrown out of his suite at the lavish Dorchester hotel shortly before the premiere.
Jenny, 62, recalled: "He just exploded with anger like I have never seen. He never gave us a chance to find out what it was all about before he frog-marched us out of his suite."
Sharon added: "He had his face to mine and he was bellowing and swearing about how I never called or emailed. His wife, who I have met a few times and always got on with, was standing across the room. I kept asking her, 'Why is he doing this?' but she just shrugged. I was shaking. It was so frightening. It didn't make any sense.
"It probably went on for about ten minutes before he physically marched us out of the room and into the lift."
Jenny now relies on the internet for news of her 36-year-old son - who moved to the US when he was 17 with his father David when his parents divorced - and lives in fear of something terrible happening to him.
She told the Mail Online website: "I search for pictures of him on Google just to see how he is. Sometimes he's pictured with his daughter, and I get to see how she's growing. If I want to know what's going on in his life, I have to read the headlines. What if something terrible happens and I have to find out about it in a newspaper? I'm his mum and he's my little boy."

Lady-lover Leo up to his old tricks on boys’ night out

It’s a good thing rumours of an engagement between Leonardo DiCaprio and Bar Refaeli proved false because his recent behaviour is hardly befitting of a man betrothed.
The "Shutter Island" star was spotted feverishly flirting with a bevy of blonde beauties at a party thrown by billionaire Nicolas Berggruen at Hollywood's Chateau Marmont on Wednesday night.
An inside source who attended the pre-Oscar bash told the "New York Post" that the handsome actor's notorious wandering eye was working overtime.
"Leo was surrounded by a gaggle of girls all night. At one point, he threw his arms around a tall blonde and chatted with her and her friends. He left with a male pal, followed by three girls - including the blonde - at about 3 a.m."
DiCaprio's party-boy behaviour was in stark contrast to last month's trip to the Berlin International Film Festival, where he was joined at the hip by Refaeli, his on-off girlfriend of five years.
The famous duo appeared happier than ever and a German newspaper even reported the Oscar-nominated actor had popped the question on Valentine's Day to the Israeli bikini model after she was spotted wearing a gold band on her wedding figure.
Refaeli has since put the engagement rumours to rest, telling "E!" there was no such proposal.
"Let me explain: these rings, which are beautiful and made by a friend of mine, won't fit any other finger except this one," she said, adding that there's no rush to make things official with her hunky beau. "Yeah, what can I do? I'm 24 and there's still time. I'm in no hurry. I'm happy with where I am."
The couple has made a habit over the years of keeping onlookers guessing as to their official status and took a break last summer after DiCaprio reportedly got a case of cold feet.
"She wanted to move faster than he did, she wanted to move in together, so he broke it off," a source dished to "People" at the time.
Shortly after the split, DiCaprio was spotted cavorting in Ibiza, Spain with 23-year-old Russian model Anne Vyalisyna while Refaeli found solace in a rebound relationship with Teddy Sagi, one of Israel's richest men.

Rachel McAdams to join Woody Allen film

Rachel McAdams is in negotiations to star opposite Owen Wilson and Marion Cotillard in Woody Allen's untitled movie scheduled to shoot in the summer.
As with most Allen movies, plot details are being kept under wraps, though the setting for the ensemble is France. Spain's Mediapro is financing and plans to sell the movie in Cannes.
McAdams' boarding comes on the heels of Allen's latest movie, the London-set "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger," being acquired by Sony Pictures Classics. "Stranger" also was financed by Mediapro.
McAdams is coming off the success of "Sherlock Holmes" and has on her docket Terrence Malick's untitled movie project, in which she will co-star with Christian Bale, Javier Bardem and Olga Kurylenko. The movie shoots this year.
The actress, repped by UTA and Magnolia Entertainment, next appears with Harrison Ford in the J.J. Abrams-produced "Morning Glory," which Paramount releases Oct. 28.

Is Something Wrong With James McAvoy?

Here's hoping everything's OK with James McAvoy and family.
The Scottish actor has dropped out of the untitled comedy previously known as I'm With Cancer "due to unrelated circumstances beyond his control," a McAvoy rep tells E! News.
A source close to the production says a family emergency prompted his sudden exit from the project.
No official details about said "circumstances" have been forthcoming, but we've heard that the emergency has nothing to do with his wife's pregnancy.
McAvoy and wife Anne-Marie Duff revealed in January that they are expecting their first child together.
With the 30-year-old thesp busy attending to his offscreen life, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has stepped up to costar with Anna Kendrick, Seth Rogen and Bryce Dallas Howard in the based-on-a-true-story comedy about a mild-mannered young man who is diagnosed with cancer and situational humor ensues.
"It's incredibly unfortunate that circumstances outside of everyone's control have taken James away from the project, but with James' blessing, we were able to have Joseph step in to take on the role of Adam," Rogen, who's also a producer on the flick, tells E! News. "We all look forward to working with James in the future."
Added director Jonathan Levine, "I feel extremely lucky that our film has found an exceptional actor to step into the role of Adam. I have admired Joseph's work since Brick, and I am so excited to work with him."
Cameras are scheduled to start rolling in Vancouver on March 8.

Adam Brody in talks to join 'Oranges'

Adam Brody, Alia Shawkat, Catherine Keener and Allison Janney are in negotiations to join the cast of the family dramedy "The Oranges."
Hugh Laurie and Leighton Meester recently boarded the long-gestating indie pic, which finally secured financing and will begin shooting March 30 in New York. Julian Farino is directing, and Anthony Bregman and Leslie Urdang are producing.
The script, by Ian Helfer and Jay Reiss, centers on a man (Laurie) who has a romantic relationship with the daughter (Meester) of a family friend. That turns their lives, and the lives of their families, upside down.
Brody will play Laurie's son, who falls for Meester but is shocked to learn she's having a torrid affair with his dad.
Shawkat is Brody's sister, thinking of moving out, while Keener plays their mother. Janney is Meester's mom.
UTA-repped Brody can be seen on screen with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan in "Cop Out." He was last seen "Jennifer's Body."
Since appearing in Drew Barrymore's "Whip It!" Shawkat has landed roles in "The Runaways" and "Cedar Rapids" and co-created a comedy with Ellen Page for HBO titled "Stitch N' Bitch." She is repped by UTA and Kipperman Management.
Gersh-repped Keener is on screen with "Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." Janney, repped by Paradigm, has two indie movies in the can: "A Thousand Words" and "Life During Wartime."
